NETWORKING MAPCON

If not using MAPCON on a network, go to the next section: Set Company Name.

WARNING -  If using MAPCON across a network, a network product must be installed and running on the network server

NETWORK PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Network Products such as the Universal Driver handle record locking and guard against nasty GFEs (Group Format Errors) which can violate data integrity, cause data corruption, and possibly even data loss. Each Network Product provides protection against GFEs by processing the reads, writes, deletes, record locking, and other linear hashing (file handling) functions on the network server.

Additionally, Network Products:

            Prevent file corruption and data loss (the only time a GFE occurs in MAPCON is if the network server itself crashes from a severe power loss, etc.)

            Decrease network traffic by 80-90%

            Improve overall MAPCON performance up to 30%

Safeguards to maintain data integrity must be in place to insure reliable, quality service from your CMMS.

INSTALL NETWORK PRODUCT

If MAPCON will be accessed by multiple Users across a network, install the Revelation Universal Driver for either Windows 2000/2003 or Novell servers.
