TECH TIPS:
Be sure the Network Driver is set to appropriate setting, as the instructions describe. Run Netdrv.exe (located in root directory, wmapcon) to verify it is set correctly.
Be sure to create the revparam file (also mentioned in the Revelation manual).
Use a text editor like Notepad to create a file called REVPARAM. Careful: Notepad will automatically add .txt to the end of the file name. You will need to use Windows File Explorer to rename it with no extension, just revparam
MAPCON only requires one line in the revparam file:
serveronly=true
This revparam file must be created and copied into the ROOT directory of MAPCON.
NT: From server Control Panel / Services, look for the Linear Hash service to start or stop the Revelation NT Service.
2000/2003: From server Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services, look for the Linear Hash service to start or stop the service.
Novell: From the server console, use commands LHSTART or LHSTOP to start or stop the Linear Hash NLM.
NETWORK TROUBLESHOOTING
From our KnowledgeBase on the web at www.mapcon.com:
FS477 Error: Filing System error
1. Go into your network properties and check the ipx/spx compatible protocol and make sure that the Frame Type is specified to the frame type of your network - not Auto. If you are using Novell's Client 32 you should also check the Frame Type is set to the correct type as well. This setting is found in the ipx 32 bit protocol properties.
2. Try re-installing the client. If Win NT, install the Microsoft Client and then the Novell Client.
If you go through the following procedures everything should work: 1. Remove the Novell Client 2. Reboot.
3. Install the MS Client for NetWare
4. Reboot.
5. Remove the MS Client for NetWare
6. Reboot.
7. Install the Novell Client Step 3- 6 may not be necessary, but for now anyone that has been through the process has been able to successfully run MAPCON.
FS### Error: Filing System error There are other filing system errors with different numbers (i.e. FS472, FS1060). Most of these usually indicate improper network connectivity between workstation and server. Be sure the Universal Driver is running on the server at all times. Stop and restart the network product if needed.
To confirm Network Driver setting, or to re-set the Network Driver:
Using Windows File Explorer, run NETDRV.EXE (found in the root folder of mapcon, typically wmapcon, where OINSIGHT.EXE is also located.) A Change Network Driver screen will appear. If the driver needs to be changed, click to highlight the correct driver type in Available Drivers. Click [OK] if the driver type is changed, or click [Close] if just verifying Driver Type.
Verify the Current Network Driver Type is correct for your system:

CREATE MAPCON ICON ON WORKSTATIONS
To access MAPCON, create an icon on each workstation's desktop.
(Note: The workstation used for the install already has the red Toolbox icon.)
TECH TIP:
If using MAPCON on a network, copy icon from the install computer to a network folder where it can be copied to all other workstation's desktops. This only works if all Users are mapped to the MAPCON network drive the same way using the same drive letter. Copy icon to network directory (ex: paste shortcut in root directory of WMAPCON). Then, from each workstation, use File Explore to highlight icon, right click on icon, then copy and paste on desktop.
To create your own MAPCON shortcut:
1. Right click on desktop and select New, then Shortcut.
2. Click Browse to use file explorer to find the location where MAPCON was installed. Point to the Oinsight.exe file, found in the root directory of MAPCON, then click OK.
3. Type MAPCON for the name of the shortcut, then click Finish.
4. Right click on icon, then choose Properties.
5. Click Shortcut tab.
6. In the Target field, add /ap=mapcon after oinsight.exe or use /ap=accountname for multiple account systems.
Substitute appropriate name for accountname.
Note: 2000, and NT workstations only: Be sure the box "Run in separate memory space" is Un-checked.
7. Click Change Icon button. Use Browse to point to the Icons directory, then select Toolbox.ico. Click OK, then OK again to save changes.
TECH TIP:
Use the red Toolbox icon consistently so Users can quickly find MAPCON on any workstation's desktop.
