Establish Rules
Consistency in data entry will help Users find and locate information quickly and easily.
For example, set a rule on whether to use dashes or underscores to separate numbers.
A mixture of both in the same table will slow down search time and cause User frustration.
Nobody wants to use a system with poorly setup data.
Determine Defaults
Data that is entered the same every time can be "defaulted" into the field. As the cursor enters the field, the data will appear automatically, but can be changed if needed.
For example, set the Completed By name field on work orders to default to the User's name who is logged in.
