Sorting Options

Scheduling supports several different sorting methods. By default, Work Orders will initially be loaded into the Work Order Scheduling screen in the order of the Work Order's Rating within Date Required.

Click on Sort to resort Work Orders into the desired order.

WARNING: The fact that Work Orders are initially loaded in the above order does not imply that they were scheduled in that order. They are NOT rescheduled using the above order at the time of initial load and will retain their previous scheduling status until they are resorted using one of the following Sorting Options.

A Sort Option pop-up displays the following selection list:

            1> Date Required

            2> Work Order Rating

            3> Work Order Priority

            4> Estimated Hours

            5> Work Order #

One, several or all of the above options can be selected for the same sort pass. They will be done in the order in which they are selected. For example, click on Date Required and then click on Estimated Hours. Then, click on OK. Work Orders will be sorted in the order of Estimated Hours within Date Required.

When Work Orders are resorted, all Work Orders with activity within the Scheduling Window are unscheduled and rescheduled in the new sort order.  This allows schedulers to load Work Orders in any order and reschedule them in a specified sort order when they are done. Remember, the order in which Work Orders are scheduled is important because Craft resources are depleted as work is scheduled. Sorting and rescheduling Work Orders allows the most important Work Orders to get the resources. For example, sorting by Date Required will schedule overdue work orders first. But, sorting by the Work Order's Rating will schedule the most important work orders first.
