Remote Shutdown

From any workstation, click on the top Utilities menu, then Shutdown Indexer. Shutdown will prompt, Hours first then Minutes, how long to wait until automatically starting again.

Indexer Statistics

Click on the top Utilities menu, then Indexer Statistics to view indexer information from any workstation.

Setup

On the computer that is going to be the dedicated indexer, perform the following steps.

Login to MAPCON with SYS9 security and create a security entry for the user INDEXER.

Access through:

            Admin Icon

            Utilities Menu

            System Setup Utilities Menu

            Maintain Sign-on Security

Create a sign-on for the dedicated indexer within MAPCON:

            Login Initials =            IDX

            Login Name = INDEXER

            Login Password =       INDEXER

            Security Level =          IDX9

Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP - Setup an icon for the indexer:

            path:\OINSIGHT.EXE  /AP=MAPCON  /UN=IDX  /PW=INDEXER

Path is the DOS path to MAPCON on the network (e.g. M:\WMAPCON)

/AP is the Account name

/UN is the User name

/PW is the Password

Follow instructions above for the Dedicated Indexer.

Note: Use the Dedicated Indexer window to adjust logout and delay times. If neccessary, edit the file MAPCON.PRM to force the settings. This file will be found on the root drive of the indexer. If using multiple accounts, an indexer on any other account uses the file name ACCOUNTNAME.PRM (substitute the proper name for accountname).

Post Processor

Speed up data entry time and move on quickly to the next record by using a dedicated computer to perform the posting process and the updating of all related records once the record is saved. If the dedicated computer is "locked up" or is down when the update request is received, the workstation that the user is at will perform the update (as usual), and a message will appear that informs the user what is happening.

Note: The clock on each workstation needs to be set to the same time (within five minutes) as on the dedicated computer for processing to function correctly. When logging into MAPCON and a message displays "Processor is not working. Posting will be done from the workstation." and if you know for a FACT that the processor is turned on and working, then make sure the clock is set correctly.

Currently, only Invoice Reconciliation and Quick Invoice Reconciliation is setup to use the Post Processor. Other posting activities will be available soon.

First, to use the Post Processor, a Switch needs to be turned on.

Access through:

            Admin Icon

            Utilities Menu

            System Setup Utilities Menu

            Account Setup

At the bottom of the Account Setup page, check the box to Enable Dedicated Post Processing. Log out of MAPCON and back in for the change to take effect.

Second, setup the control information for the processor.

Access through:

            Admin Icon

            Utilities Menu

            System Setup Utilities Menu

            Dedicated Processor

Check the Post Processor box.

Control Information:

Start Date - When the Engage button is clicked to turn on the processor, automatically defaults to today's date, which can be changed by typing in 6 digits with no slashes i.e. 010199 for Jan 1, 1999. If network backups are performed, and the indexer needs to logout of MAPCON, leave this field blank. It will be automatically moved forward to the current date after the Delay After Logout time has expired.

Stop Date - Enter the date when the processor stops updating, using 6 digits with no slashes i.e. 010199 for Jan 1, 1999. Leave this field blank to keep it checking forever, or enter the date when it will log out of MAPCON, for example when doing a backup of the network. Automatically moves forward to the current date after the Delay After Logout time has expired. (Note: The processor will only log out of MAPCON if a stop TIME is filled in below.)

Start Time - Enter the time when the processor begins updating. Automatically set to current time when the Engage button is clicked. Uses military time format (15:00 = 3 PM).

Stop Time - Enter the time when the processor stops updating AND LOGS OUT OF MAPCON. (Does not log the computer off the network, however, the network will now be able to backup MAPCON files.) Uses military time format (15:00 = 3 PM).

Delay Between Updates - Enter the time between updates (in seconds). Uses military time format (15:00 = 3 PM). Recommend setting between 15 and 45 seconds. Less than 15 seconds will flood the network with update requests and may decrease network performance. Over 45 seconds and user frustration may occur after processing a record and it does not appear changed, giving a false impression that the data is incorrect.

Delay After Logout - Enter number of Hours (Military time format) and Minutes before the processor logs back into MAPCON. After logging in, Start and Stop Dates are moved forward accordingly, and processor starts up automatically.

Engage - Click the Engage button to start the Processor.

Disengage - Click the Disengage button to manually stop the Processor.

Click the Post Processor tab to view the processor in action.

Leave the computer on this screen while it is running. Click the Close button on the right side of the window to exit and turn it off.

Program Scheduler

Use a dedicated computer to run large reports or perform update processes at the time of your choosing, for example late at night when network traffic is low.

First, the scheduler needs to be setup with report or program names. Second, turn on and engage the scheduler.

Note: Reports can not have prompts in the Query (there would be no one there to enter the desired information).

Values such as date ranges must be hard-coded in the Query.
