Establish Security 

Create Security Codes

From Admin icon, Utilities Menu, System Setup Utilities Menu, Maintain Security Codes.

Enter the code combination and a description of what it is used for. See the section on Security for more information and examples.

 

Menu Security 

Although optional, security on Menus should be established to control access to key areas. Simple solutions work best.

Plan in advance which Users need access to which areas, then develop a hierarchy of access codes.

See System Setup Step 2 - Define Security for more information.

Typically, lower security levels are placed on primary Main Menu options, and higher security levels are placed on deeper menu options.

For tighter security, set security level high enough to block out as many Users as possible in beginning menus to prevent them from going into deeper menus.

            Tech Tip:

            For easier setup, use just a few security levels as needed.

                        For example: 

                                    MNT1   Workers         

                                    MNT5   Supervisors   

                                    MNT9   System Administrator(s) 

To fine-tune the system, Users with need for extra access in specific areas can use MNT3 or MNT7.

If setting up a simple security system, use the initials of your company for the 3 letters of the security code            then just assign each user a number from 1-9. For example, Mapcon Technologies Inc would use MTI5 or MTI9.

More complex security systems will need to use multiple 3 letter codes, such as MNT, PUR, INV, REP (for reports), etc. plus the numbers to indicate level of access within each category.
