Tracking Costs
Note: This guide assumes that Cost Centers will be used to track costing information.
If not tracking costs within MAPCON, this section can be skipped.
MAPCON uses Cost Centers to track the cost of work done, including material, labor, and direct purchases.
Typically a cost center is tied to Equipment or Locations (an entity). More than one entity may use the same cost center.
When a work order is written against a specific Equipment or Location, the cost center tied to that entity accumulates the costs of labor and materials. A work order may also be written directly to the cost center itself.
The Cost Center is updated when:
1. The work order is sent to History.
2. OR when the Fiscal Period Closing process is run.
All work orders with a Completion Date filled in, indicating all work is complete, will have their costs updated to the appropriate cost center during this process.
Most facilities already have cost center numbers setup an defined by their internal administration or accounting department.
Some use a smart numbering system to help identify areas of responsibility.
If you need assistance setting up these numbers, contact your informative MTI Support Specialist for more information.
