Inventory Type Data Entry
Access via the Administration Icon : Inventory : Inventory Type.
Reports can be based on Inventory Type. For example, an Inventory Type might be "MOTORS-AC". Inventory Reports can then limit record selection to only those records where the Inventory Item is of type "MOTORS-AC".
This is a validation table. A lookup on the Inventory Screen uses this table to insure that data is entered correctly.
Use the Data Input Instructions to enter the Inventory Type and description.
Inventory UOM Data Entry
Access via the Administration Icon : Inventory : Inventory Units of Measure.
Inventory can be used and purchased using various Units of Measure. For example, Inventory can be purchased by the gross and issued from stock by quantity each. Inventory might be issued by a six pack of Spark Plugs and purchased in cartons containing 12 six packs or 72 each. A method is needed to accommodate different Units of Measure and to relate them to each other.
This file is a primarily a validation table. Lookups on the Inventory Screen and on this screen will use this table to insure that data is entered correctly.
Use the Data Input Instructions to enter the UOM and Description.
Inventory Units of Measure are purely informational if the Advanced Inventory Option has not been purchased.
With the Advanced Inventory Option
Stock Keeping Units and Vendor Distribution Units
A Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) is the Unit of Measure by which Inventory is issued. For example, even though grommets are purchased by the gross, they are issued one at a time. Grommets would have the default Stock Keeping Unit - "EACH".
A Vendor Distribution Unit (VDU) is the Unit of Measure by which Inventory is purchased. In the above example, the Vendor Distribution Unit is "GROSS".
You must enter the relationship between the SKU and the VDU, i.e. 1 GROSS = 144 EACH. The EACH Unit of Measure and the EACH to EACH relationship are already defined and can not be deleted.
You will not see VDUs on the Inventory Screen or be able to establish relationships between VDUs and SKUs unless you have purchased the Purchasing Option.
Inserting, Editing and deleting relationships
To Insert - Click on the Insert Button. Use the VDU Lookup to select the VDU you wish to establish a relationship for. Use the SKU Lookup to select a SKU. Enter the number of SKUs in one VDU. Click on the Save Button to save the relationship. Click on Cancel to exit without saving.
To Edit - Highlight a relationship by clicking on it and then click on the Edit Button. Make any desired changes. Click on the Save Button to save the relationship. Click on Cancel to exit without saving.
To Delete - Highlight a relationship by clicking on it and then click on the Delete Button.
