Locations
Locations allow costs not related to Equipment (facility or building maintenance costs) to be tracked directly.
Access through the Asset icon, Location Data Entry.
Locations are specified physical areas within the facility, i.e. buildings, rooms, floors etc., and can be setup in a five level hierarchy. Costs charged to lower levels in the Location hierarchies will roll up to the higher levels.
Refer to the previous section "Optional Planning - Locations" for more information on establishing location levels and hierarchies.
Each Location Level must be created in order from highest to lowest. Level 2 cannot be input until Level 1 has been created.
Press enter to create a dash mark to indicate blank levels. The Description field always refers to the last level that is filled in (not including the dashes).
After entering all required and desired optional information, click Save.
STEP 7 - PROCESS WORK ORDERS
If you have been following this implementation guide step by step, the system is now ready to initiate work orders.
Work Orders are the heart of the MAPCON system. They can be written against Equipment, Locations, or directly to Cost Centers.
They are also used to Move equipment in and out of service.
Access through the Maintenance icon, Work Order Control Menu, Initiate Work Orders.
Press the Enter key for the next available work order number.
The Type will default to a standard Repair (R) order.
Select a Priority, which sets the Required Date on the second page.
Select the appropriate Code (CD) and fill in the related number for the desired Equipment, Location, or Cost Center.
Fill in the Problem Description with the nature of the work to be done. Using pre-defined descriptions is highly encouraged.
Click the Approval box. The second page is displayed. Click the Save icon (or press F2).
Congratulations! You just created your first MAPCON work order!
Much more information can be entered, but is not required at this time. The work order can optionally be Dispatched, Planned, Scheduled, and eventually Completed and sent to History.
It is beyond the scope of this guide to cover work orders in more detail. Please consult the on-line manual or your knowledgeable MAPCON Support Specialist for more information and training.
