Security Icons
Access via Windows Explorer : Programs : Mapcon Lite : Admin.
What do the Icons mean?
The Icons across the top of the screen will invoke the various programs that you will use to administer security. A brief description is provided here.
Security Categories. This screen is used to create a Security Category validation table. Security Categories ( 3 character alphanumeric codes ) must be entered in the validation table before they can be used for Securable Objects or Users. They will then appear on the Lookups used by the Securable Objects and User screens.
User Groups. This screen is used to create a User Group and to assign Security Codes to a Group. A User is automatically given the rights of the User Group when their User Name is added to the Group.
User Profiles. This screen is used to add a User Name, to assign the User Name to a User Group or to assign Security Codes directly to the User. All Users of the system must be assigned a User Name and Password.
Component Security. This screen is used to assign Security Categories and Security Levels to a screen's Components, e.g. Grids or Edit Boxes.
Pack User Tables. This screen is used to pack and re-index the various tables used by the security system. This will sometimes improve performance and should be done at least once after the security system has been totally implemented.
