Meet Mapcon Mondays - Featuring Diane Wiand

Welcome to another edition of Meet Mapcon Mondays, a monthly interview series starring one of Mapcon's illustrious employees. This time we're sitting down with Diane Wiand to hear about her tenure here at Mapcon Technologies, Inc.

A: Diane Wiand, Office Manager / Client Solutions Advocate

My title is exactly that…I function as office manager and also advocate for the clients. I schedule online trainings, attend trade shows, I am the "go to" person in the office (AKA Mama Mapcon). I try to make sure clients are getting the help they need to be successful using Mapcon. If I can't help them, I get them to the person who can. And I am the Logistics Coordinator for MUG (Mapcon Users' Group) and am very involved in the conference planning.

Q: Without revealing a deep, dark secret (unless you want to), tell us something about yourself most people don't know.

A: Hmmm…I'm pretty much an open book so there is not much most people don't know. So, this is not really about me but something I love telling people about. My Dad was a Colonel during WWII and flew a bomber plane. Jimmy Stewart was his squadron commander. He was shot down and was a POW for 18 months in Germany. This story could go on and on…

Q: Tell us about your Mapcon experience.Image: Diane with MUG group

A: I've been with Mapcon for 15 years. I was originally hired for sales but thankfully was moved to Customer Service/Admin Asst within a couple of months.

Fun fact about a Mapcon employee…Cory is scared of clowns and boy do we have fun with that!

The best things about working here are the people, coworkers, and clients. We're like one big family.

Q: Outside of work, tell us what you enjoy.

A: I’m pretty much a home body. TV…lots of TV! Anything from Grey’s Anatomy (which I’ve watched about 10 times lol) to WWII documentaries and everything in between. But what I enjoy best of all is spending time with my 4 grandkids!

Q: What is one aspect about Mapcon you would like customers and future customers to know?

A: That we care about our clients and will do everything we can to help them. Their success is our success!

Stephen L. Brayton is a Marketing Associate at Mapcon Technologies, Inc. He graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with a degree in Communications. His background includes radio, hospitality, martial arts, and print media. He has authored several published books (fiction), and his short stories have been included in numerous anthologies. With his joining the Mapcon team, he ventures in a new and exciting direction with his writing and marketing. He’ll bring a unique perspective in presenting the Mapcon system to prospective companies, as well as our current valued clients.
