Meet Mapcon Mondays - Featuring Jessica Bergen-Ramirez

Image: Jessica Bergen-Ramirez

Welcome to another edition of Meet Mapcon Mondays, a monthly interview series starring one of Mapcon's illustrious employees. This time we're sitting down with Jessica Bergen-Ramirez to hear about her tenure here at Mapcon Technologies, Inc.

Q: Introduce yourself.

A: My name is JJ, and I am an Advanced Technical Support Representative here at Mapcon. Mostly that means I do a lot of minor fixes and upgrades, and answer questions that people have about how to operate the Mapcon system. I write a lot of reports, as well. I also do training, both In-House and On-Site, which I enjoy a lot. I find it very rewarding to help people learn and solve problems.

Q: Without revealing a deep, dark secret (unless you want to), tell us something about yourself most people don't know.

A: I am pretty handy; I love to work on cars with my family and to create things for my home. I’ve built a modern cat tree, installed many, many shelves, etc. As for cars, I help my dad work on his 1963 ½ Falcon pretty often. It’s my dream car. 😊 In high school, I did some significant repairs on my VW Rabbit, too.

Q: Tell us about your Mapcon experience.

A: I have worked at Mapcon for just over a year, and I have learned a TON in that time. I feel extremely grateful for all the support I’ve gotten from the team since I am newer to a technical role. I really love interacting with all the customers and forming a rapport with everyone, and I love solving problems. I have learned a lot about programming in my time here and am super excited to continue growing in that aspect.

It’s super interesting and cool to me that Mapcon was one of the very first CMMS products in the market; I love getting to be part of a company with history.

I also love being part of such a small but hardworking company. I always feel like I can go to my boss and peers when I have questions about how to do something, or when I want to know why something works the way it does. I am always learning something new.

Q: Outside of work, tell us what you enjoy.

A: My partner and I really enjoy playing board games with our friends (Catan, Carcassone, and Pandemic to name a few) and hanging out with our daughter. I am a pretty outdoorsy person, too, and like to hike around Ledges State Park when I get the chance. It’s wild to me that people say Iowa is boring because there are so many hidden gems both in Des Moines itself and all around the state. I feel like such a hipster, but I really think Iowa is one of the most beautiful and best-kept secrets of the Midwest, and even the country.

Another thing I enjoy is finding new local restaurants. My favorite (as many in the office know) is Cheese Bar in downtown Des Moines. If you ever come for a Mapcon User Group (MUG) conference or In-House training, it’s always my first recommendation. The staff there is super friendly, and the food is incredible.

Q: What is one aspect about Mapcon you would like customers and future customers to know?

A: Use the System Scheduler if you have it (and if you don’t, it’s WORTH IT)! It is one of the best tools we have, and I think it makes your job SO much easier. It can even email you copies of your PM’s, send things to history as needed, or run a daily report if you want it to!

Jessica (JJ) is a valued member of the Mapcon team, and we look forward to further support and training sessions! Join us again next month to get to know another member of the Mapcon family.
